The Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting last Thursday, August 25. It was the first meeting since the end of July, and there were some big issues on the table.

The meeting opened with Mayor Curtatone giving an update on the Wynn Casino project. The city had appealed licenses on the building project, citing that some of its allowances were unprecedented and arbitrary. Particularly the length of the license and the lack of effort on the part of the state to assist with increased traffic and pollution.

Anything is possiblllllllllllle…move over Boston Celtics there is a new local franchise who can boast 17 Championship Titles. In Game 4 the Somerville Alibrandis franchise was able to win 7-4 completing the series sweep and winning the 2016 Yawkey League Championship. Somerville has been to the YBL Finals 17 times in its history and they have won every single time, 17-0.

The Falmouth Road Race took place on Sunday, August 21, and several runners from Somerville completed the race.

Last Sunday’s race was the 44th running of the event which takes participants over challenging hills and across sun-drenched flats along the coast from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights on Cape Cod.
