The Somerville Times submitted five questions to the candidates for State Senate Second Middlesex District, along with the opportunity to include a short bio/statement. The following answers were submitted by the candidates (presented in alphabetical order by last name):

 Bio:

My father immigrated here in 1969 and taught me the importance of civic activism, giving back to community, and participating in democracy. My parents also taught me the importance of hard work and investing in education, which led to my degrees from Stanford, Harvard, and MIT. Before joining the Cambridge City Council I was an entrepreneur and investor, helping develop the innovation economy and making sure it works for us.

The 16th Annual Golf Tournament for the John T. Forcellese Memorial Fund will be held this year once again at the Falmouth Country Club in Falmouth, MA. Saturday, September 10. The Falmouth Road Race took place on Sunday, August 21, and several runners from Somerville completed the race.

Last Sunday’s race was the 44th running of the event which takes participants over challenging hills and across sun-drenched flats along the coast from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights on Cape Cod.

I have interviewed hundreds of poets and writers over the years on my Somerville Community Access TV show Poet to Poet/Writer to Writer and elsewhere, but I can remember my first subjects back in 1975, when I had a short-lived campus radio show Idea Exchange.

Joshua Freedman, of 51 Clarendon Ave., August 22, 8:04 a.m., arrested at Broadway on warrant charges of uninsured motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Davis Wanzo, August 23, 9:52 a.m., arrested at Alewife Brook Pkwy. on warrant charges of armed robbery and threat to commit a crime.
