I recently interviewed poet Rusty Barnes on my Somerville Community Access TV show Poet to Poet/Writer to Writer. I decided to send you, dear readers, my review of his latest poetry collection:

Anthony Michael Majahad: Tony is an environmental chemist. He and his wife, Dorry, moved from Cambridge to Winthrop. Mentors have been Jean Pedrick, Nina Nyhart, William Corbett, and Carol Dine; currently Susan Donnelly. Poems have appeared in Marblehead Magazine, Suffolk University Venture, Bagel Bard Anthologies #6 and #7 and MSPS’s Waterfront CREW Chapter Anthologies. Co-sponsors Line Up to Back ‘An Act to reduce traffic fatalities’

Lawmakers at the Massachusetts State House showed strong early support for a massive transportation safety bill that includes several provisions to improve conditions for bicycle riders. As the deadline for bill co-sponsors passed Friday Feb. 3, 73 lawmakers had signed on as sponsors of the House bill; another 38 had sponsored the Senate version.

SeniorPet Donors Come Through for Sampson the Dog

The SeniorPet program at Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) wants to thank everyone who recently contributed to support the good health of Sampson the dog.

Sampson is doing alright, and his owner was overwhelmed by the generosity of those who donated to help SeniorPet cover the vet bills.

The City of Somerville and The Welcome Project  hosted today’s We are #OneSomerville: Sanctuary City Rally. Somerville Police Department estimated around 4,800 people at today’s rally.

Somerville Police received a call last week from a man who reportedly told them that his girlfriend’s stolen cell phone and passport were being held for ransom and that he was in the process of negotiating their return.

According to reports, the woman’s cell phone and passport had been stolen at a nightclub in Boston known as Sissy K’s on January 22, and the incident was reported to Boston Police.

Join The Welcome Project, City of Somerville (Official), and your neighbors on the Somerville High School concourse in showing support for our Sanctuary City (2017 is the 30th anniversary of Somerville becoming a Sanctuary City) and all members of our community. The rally will feature a short speaking program and musical performances.
