Cirque Us! will be performing for the first time at a fundraiser show in support of their new tour that will kick off Summer 2016. The show will be held at Aircraft Aerial Arts in Somerville, MA on Saturday, March 19. The first ever performance from Cirque Us! will feature high-flying aerialists, wacky clowns, contortionists and tight wire-walkers. Proceeds will raise money for the Summer 2016 tour, which will hit many towns in the New England area.

Poodle skirts, bellbottoms and platform shoes came out of mothballs last Friday as participants in Flashback Friday at The Somerville City Club took a journey back in time and danced the night away to songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s & 90’s. All proceeds benefited the Somerville PTA Scholarship Dinner Dance.
The Boston Irish Film Festival returned to the historic Somerville Theater for the sixteenth time to showcase the best in Irish film making. SCATV and Greater Somerville’s Joe Lynch covered opening night.

It was a very exciting race day in Somerville on Sunday as men’s winner Andrea Sorgato became a three time champion of the race with a winning time of 14:48 and barely beating John Schilkowsky – who finished in 14:49 – by one second. Sorgato improved on his 2011 winning time of 14:49 and his 2010 winning time of 15:36.

The pros and cons of natural versus artificial turf are still being debated and assessed by the city, according to a report by the Board of Aldermen’s Special Committee on Open Space, Environment, and Energy.
At the March 10 regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen, a report was given on the activities of the Special Committee on Open Space, Environment, and Energy that had met earlier, on February 29.
