Somerville’s youth boxers put on an exhibition at Fight Night at Dilboy Stadium last Friday at Dilboy Stadium. The event was presented by the Somerville Youth Development and Boxing Club, in conjunction with Mayor Joseph Curtatone and the Somerville Recreation Department.

Passing legislation that adapts to the changing needs of a community should be a no-brainer, especially if it has to do with public safety and environmental protection, and will save us money. Instead, as Erin Wade reported in The Somerville Times, the proposed bill to address the gas leaks issue has been sitting in the Massachusetts legislature for nine months. I wonder how much more gas has gone to waste since January.

I know what you’re thinking, another dried out flavorless turkey loaf. It doesn’t have to be that way. Really. There are three rules for a flavorful and moist turkey loaf. Flavor layering, fat content, and not over cooking. Sautéing the ingredients and blooming the spices enhances the flavor, adding a more refined flavor profile.

How much do we love summer? It’s certain that we all feel varying degrees of enthusiasm for the season. Some may live to revel in the warm sunshine, while others might prefer a cooler climate, even to the extent of pining for snowy picture-postcard  scenes straight out of Currier and Ives. One thing’s for sure, we could sure do without as much snow as we sometimes get at the worst of times.

This novella, beautifully illustrated by Sara Zieve Miller, transcends the world into a place of whimsy and adventure. It is an adventure that will capture the imagination of children and those of any age. In The Little Queen, Geddes tells the story of a little girl whose parents pass on, leaving her to live on as the little queen. It is a role the little queen initially wants to rid herself of, willing to trade places with anyone to become something else.

Vaughan, Harold E. “Harry” Jr. –Of Revere, Aug. 27^th. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Bruning).
