On Sunday, October 1, members of Somerville Youth Softball, appeared on NESN Clubhouse, the commercial-free Red Sox pregame show for kids that airs every Sunday 90 minutes before Red Sox games on NESN. They closed out the 2017 NESN Clubhouse season as guests on the final episode joined by NESN hosts TJ Hourigan, Jahmai Webster, and Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster live on Yawkey Way.

Somerville Times photographer Claudia Ferro is going to be a proud Great Grandmother soon! One of Sal and Claudia’s 17 grandchildren, Michael Ferro and Catia Martin, are expecting. The family held a baby shower for the couple this past weekend. Catia Martin is a Somerville High School graduate. This baby will be the third great grandchild for Sal and Claudia. We wish them many more!

Originally from California, voice teacher and performer Celia Slattery has lived in worked in Davis Square for the past 17 years. She described the community as vibrant, and a good place for someone in her profession to be located. She has performed in many local spots, such as: the now defunct Johnny D’s, the Davis Square Theater, Ryles in Inman Square, Club Passim in Harvard Square, etc.

Clothesline Project, a visual display that honors survivors as well as victims of intimate partner violence.
Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, the Somerville Commission for Women, and RESPOND announce the annual Candlelight Vigil in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Wednesday, October 4, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Statue Park in Davis Square.
The vigil is an annual event bringing the community together in remembrance of those who have lost their lives over the last year to domestic violence.
