I can’t count the number of people that I care about who have been priced out of our city. I suppose I could tell you some of their stories to add “human interest” to this column. But if you’ve been here even a few years, you can provide your own list.

Community invited to attend this free event to understand the impact of digital dependence and learn strategies for addressing the challenges of digital socialization

On Tuesday, April 3^rd, filmmaker, writer, professor and producer of “Celling Your Soul”, Joni Siani, will facilitate an examination of our love/hate relationships with our digital devices and the impacts and reactions of the first digitally socialized generation. All are invited to join this free film screening and discussion event on April 3^rd, 2018, 6:30-8:30pm at Cohen Auditorium, Aidekman Arts Center, Tufts University, 40 Talbot Avenue, Medford, MA.

The City’s annual Patriot’s Day celebration, to be held at Foss Park on Mon., April 16 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Annual celebration of the historic event to include colonial games, refreshments, visit by “Paul Revere” on horseback

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Ward 1 Alderman Matt McLaughlin, and the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission invite all residents and community members to the City’s annual Patriot’s Day celebration, to be held at Foss Park on Mon., April 16, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Co-sponsored by the Preservation Commission, Historic Somerville, the Somerville Museum, and East Somerville Main Streets, the day’s events will include Colonial games, light refreshments, live music by the Somerville High School band, and a visit from “Paul Revere” on horseback on his historic ride from Boston to Lexington through Somerville.

Program open to Somerville youth ages 16 and older. Employment opportunities available in City departments and with local business partners.

Attention Somerville Youth! The Mayor’s Summer Jobs Program will be accepting applications for summer 2018 starting Monday, April 2. Through the annual program, more than 100 Somerville teens will be placed within city departments as well as with private business partners in Somerville. Eligible students must be Somerville residents, enrolled in high school, and at least 16 years of age. Limited opportunities are available for youth that are at least 15 years of age with the Department of Recreation.

More than 60 organizations and vendors are set to participate in Elder Fair, the annual health and wellness expo hosted by Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services.

I was contacted recently by a guy who needed money fast and wanted to sell stuff. He had some German World War 2 ceremonial daggers to sell. Tough items to sell. They usually have a few swastikas on them and as the war went on, the quality fell off because the Allies were raining tons of bombs onto the factories.
