Mike Burgess is a Cambridge-based hobbyist writer. After growing up in New Hampshire, he moved to Cambridge for college and has stayed in the area since. All the while, he writes in his free-time as motivated by fortunes and troubles in his personal life alike.

Mike Burgess

Can You Trust A Timid Lover?

Vows are spoken words
Convictions are disputed in silence

You whisper the things you wish
Scream the things you feel
And withhold which you believe

The night is a hushed flutter
Of beautiful candor that dances and sparks
Within the mind of one’s own

The day it dulls and flows and
Spurs monotony into the mouths of all souls

We seek the daybreak
We discuss at dusk
Sit with me
Sit with me and watch the nighttime speak
