The Empty Bowls Project is a simple community meal of soup and bread to help remind people of the members of our community who are facing food-insecurity. Sponsored by the Clay Club and Advanced Ceramic Students Supervised by Ms. Byrne at Somerville High School.

Choose a handmade ceramic bowl made by SHS student ceramic artists & fill it with delicious soups from local restaurants – before taking the bowl home to keep! The event is being held in the Culinary Restaurant at Somerville High School. Enter through the side entrance closest to City Hall.

Funds raised will benefit LUCE: Immigrant Justice Network of Massachusetts. LUCE is a statewide rapid response network designed to protect immigrant communities from ICE raids and detention. LUCE organizes in solidarity with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, immigrants and refugees, people who are targets of criminalization and currently or formerly incarcerated, young people, elders, LGBTQ+ people, and all those who are oppressed and living at the margins due to the broken system of “justice” within the U.S.
