A live virtual Design Public Hearing (DPH) and an Open House will be hosted to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed roadway reconstruction project on McGrath Highway on Tuesday,  December 9, 2025, 6:30pm –  8:00pm

All views and comments submitted in response to the meetings will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible. The proposed project consists of the reconstruction of McGrath Highway (Route 28) between Broadway in Somerville and 3rd St in Cambridge. The current design proposes to remove the McCarthy Overpass and replace it with a surface boulevard-style roadway with at-grade signalized intersections. The project includes the provision, expansion, and enhancement of pedestrian, bicycle, and transit facilities.
