One of Somerville’s longest standing Thanksgiving traditions, the Gobble Gobble Gobble turkey trot, celebrated its 29th year on a beautiful Thanksgiving morning in the city last week.
The race, presented by the Somerville Road Runners, had its highest finisher count in the race’s history, with 3,064 runners and walkers crossing the finish line of the four mile race. Cambridge residents took the top three spots on the men’s side of the race, with Davide Zanetti winning in a time of 20:01. On the women’s side, Belmont resident Rachel Hyland repeated as champ in a blistering time of 21:45, and E Reese took home the win in the non-binary division. Lucas Estrada was the top Somerville finisher, coming in 4th overall in a time of 20:50.
Thousands of runners enjoyed the race, running with family and friends, with many donning creative Thanksgiving themed costumes.
Race proceeds will go to benefit a number of local charities, including the Somerville Homeless Coalition, Stride for Stride, the Somerville High School Track PAC, and Dilboy VFW.
The Somerville Road Runners thank all those who ran and volunteered, and a special thanks to the City of Somerville for helping make this event happen
