Step into a century of Somerville history and leap into the future at Rewind, Record, PLAY!, a one-night-only retrofuturist fundraising cocktail event celebrating the Museum’s 100th anniversary. The celebration takes place on Thursday, October 23, from 5:30–8:30pm at The Crystal Ballroom in Davis Square.

In 1925, the Somerville Historical Society built its permanent home at 1 Westwood Road, embedding a time capsule in its cornerstone. Not only will the contents of the original time capsule be revealed at the party, but we will also be creating a new Time Capsule to be stored at the Museum and opened in 2125. Bring a Somerville-themed photo or piece of memorabilia to include, giving future residents a glimpse of what life in Somerville is like today.

The evening promises a time-traveling journey through 100 years of Somerville’s music, culture, and images—and forward 100 years into the future with interactive experiences, entertainment, and cocktails.

Highlights include:

  • Joe Lynch will lead you  through an evening filled with: Live Music with DJ TJ to set the vibe
  • AI Projection & VTubing performances that imagine the future of history and art
  •  A New Time Capsule to preserve our present for the Somerville of 2125 – Bring your own timeless contributions!
  •  Special Guest: Isaac the Robot!
  • And of course—food, drinks, and plenty of surprises!

The event is sponsored by SOMERNOVA, an anonymous gift in memory of Amy Anthony and many other local friends and businesses.  “This event is about more than nostalgia—it’s about connecting Somerville’s history with its vibrant present and ensuring support for a limitless future,” said Stephanie Marlin-Curiel, Director of the Somerville Museum.

Tickets are $100—one dollar for every year of the museum’s history.

Or, join their growing list of sponsors for free tickets and recognition!

  1. News changes fast around here! Johnny Pizzi is no longer able to appear, but we are excited to announce that Somerville’s own Joe Lynch will take over the mic and emcee the evening! Thank you, Joe!
