Recently, Ward 5 has seen a rash of motor vehicle tire and rim thefts. The suspects are believed to be operating a dark gray 2014 Acura TL with no front plate. Residents are asked to call 911 should they see a vehicle matching this description or any suspicious parties between the hours of 1:00 and 4:30 a.m. Please read the list to understand what behavior could indicate a theft in progress .

• Thefts occur on small side streets.
• Two male suspects park a 2014 Acura TL on a nearby street and walk the area between the target vehicle and their own for approx. 20 minutes.
• The tires and rims are eventually removed and then stashed halfway between the cars.
• The suspects return to their Acura, drive the area and finally return to retrieve the stolen tires and rims.

    I’m so sad to report that another incident happened on Lowell Street in the past 48 hours. This time, it was committed in the person’s driveway. I was told by the tow company that rims and tires on Main Street in Medford have been hit pretty hard by thieves as well.
