Poet Tyler Comito writes, “I am a senior at Endicott College pursuing my bachelors in Biology/Biotechnology and seeking to continue my education at Merrimack College to get my master’s degree in secondary education. I am originally from Clifton Park, NY, where I grew up, and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to move to the North Shore for four years of my life. I’ve always been interested in writing and being able to express my thoughts in another way. This class with Doug Holder, along with my own initiative, have allowed me to do just that.”

Meditation during the Pandemic

Tyler Comito

The silence is deafening as the world slowly comes to a halt. Contemporary solace is found in the mundane nuances of everyday life – shrouded in a fog of war. Shades of grey seep into everything making the world’s once vibrant hue dissipate into nothingness and lost hope. The usual hymns of a buzzing world fall quiet as the sun rises and becomes daunting as nightfall. Like a lurking shadow awaiting its demise under the night sky, the world waits quietly for something to break the tension, for something to make it right, waiting for something, anything. Yet the silence brings the most provocative thoughts, intriguing for those who don’t mind it. As every rose has its thorn, every day has its night.

— Tyler Comito
