Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) will remain open during the statewide order to close all non-essential businesses, which was declared by Governor Charlie Baker on March 23.

The order, which runs through April 7, allows healthcare, public health, and human services agencies to continue providing essential services. Services provided by SCES are considered essential under the order.

“We are committed to helping the people we serve throughout this crisis,” said SCES Executive Director Paul Hollings. “The services we provide are essential, and we are doing our utmost to safeguard the health of our clients and team, while also meeting the needs of older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities.”

Baker has also issued a stay-at-home advisory, which strongly advises people over 70 or with underlying health issues to stay home and limit interactions with others as much as possible.
