Serving the Davis Square area since 1996, The Burren is a wonderful venue to meet up with family and friends and enjoy the authentic Irish pub experience. They feature live entertainment seven nights a week, and offer up great food and the most proper pint of Guinness you can find in the square.

The menu consists of the more traditional fares like Guinness beef stew, shepherd’s pie, and fish and chips. Let’s not forget the weekend brunch, where you can experience the traditional full Irish breakfast consisting of an Irish rasher, aka bacon, 2 sausages, black and white pudding, two eggs, grilled tomato, baked beans, and brown bread. You can also choose from a list of multiple Benedict’s, omelets, French toast, and a variety of vegetarian choices to suit your needs.

On a recent trip to lunch, we ordered the shepherd’s pie. It was full of vegetables and ground meat in an herbaceous gravy covered with decorative and lightly browned mashed potatoes. The spicy black bean burger topped with a mango salsa, lettuce, tomato, and onion was full of flavor and texture. A perfect alternative for even a true carnivore!

I almost forgot, don’t skip the fries. Crispy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside. The clam chowder was flavorful, full of clams and potatoes in a creamy, light thickened broth.

A wonderful place to enjoy great food, Irish music, fantastic service, traditional Irish pub ambiance, and the perfect pint, all without having to purchase a plane ticket to Ireland.
