Victim in Somerville hit-and-run has died, investigation ongoing

The Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred in Somerville early Sunday morning. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries and died a result of those injuries a day later.

The victim is identified as Kevin Demont, 68. At this time information suggests he was homeless.

Demont was struck by an unknown motor vehicle at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Aug. 25 at the intersection of Route 38 and Shore Drive. Preliminary investigation indicates that the collision occurred within the area of a marked crosswalk.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
