Fire damages Partners parking garage

UPDATE: An arrest has been made in the March 12 fire at the Partners Healthcare parking garage. Somerville Police placed Aniel Wilson, of Boston, under arrest on multiple counts of burning personal property, vandalism, and furnishing false identification.

Wilson was arraigned in Somerville District Court later that same day and was ordered to submit to a mental health evaluation.

The Somerville Fire Department responded to a reported fire inside the Partners Healthcare parking garage at 255 Grand Union Boulevard on Tuesday, March 12. The fire was reported at 5:08 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find a maintenance utility vehicle fully engulfed in a first floor equipment storage area of the seven story garage. The fire produced heavy smoke and was confined to the first floor storage area. Four engine companies, two ladder companies, one Rescue and two Chief Officers responded. Damage is estimated to be at least $50,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Somerville Fire Investigation Unit, Somerville Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
