Share your thoughts on the future of Central Hill, May 31

On May 18, 2018, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

The City of Somerville is developing a campus plan for Central Hill, home to City Hall, Somerville High School, and the Central Library. It also has a rich history; it was Somerville’s first civic space and park and played a significant role in the Revolutionary War. It is currently home to many of the war memorials in Somerville.

The first community meeting about this process will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, in the Somerville High School Cafeteria (81 Highland Ave.). The campus plan will lay out how the new high school will be integrated with the rest of the campus to make Central Hill accessible, sustainable, and welcoming. Pizza will be served.

The meeting is divided into sections so residents can attend the portions of the meetings they are most interested in. The agenda is as follows:

6:00 – 6:30 – Introductions and overview of the high school project

6:30 – 7:00 – Transportation and mobility

7:00 – 7:30 – Sustainability

7:30 – 8:00 – Landscape design

8:00 – 8:30 – Monuments

8:30 – 9:00 – Open discussion

  1. Old Taxpayer says:

I stand with many others in this city who think it is a shame to do this to this property. I will always feel that way about this destruction of history. Putting that aside I am thankful it was not given to developers for more condos.
