Schools Closed Friday, Jan. 5

  • Due to the severity of today’s storm, all schools and district offices will remain closed on Friday, January 5th. Thursday’s continuing storm is anticipated to make travel conditions extremely difficult and unsafe tomorrow.
  • We look forward to welcoming students and staff members back to school on Monday.

Libraries and Ice Rinks Open Friday, Jan. 5; City Hall Open with Limited Services

  • Libraries: Central and East libraries will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The West Branch will be open from 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Free Public Skating:  The Recreation Dept. is hosting two free Public Skating sessions at Veterans’ Memorial Rink at 1-3 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m.  $5 for skate rentals.
  • City Hall: Open normal Friday hours (8:30-12:30 p.m.) with essential personnel only.  Also, please remember many City services are available online at www.somervillema.gov.

Trash Pickup Continue Friday and Saturday (with 1-Day Holiday Delay)

Trash and recycling pickups will remain on schedule, but please note that pickup was already on a 1-day delay due to the New Year’s Holiday.
