Honk! visits Somerville High School

Honk! stopped by Somerville High School friday afternoon as the Honk! Festival kicks off! La Fanfare Invisible (Paris, France), Yes Ma’am Brass Band (Austin, TX) and School of HONK (Somerville, MA)  jammed with Somerville’s High’s band.

Other HONK-related activities will be taking place in and around Davis Square on Friday and Saturday, free of charge ending with the festival’s parade from Davis Square to Harvard Square.  For a complete schedule of events, visit www.honkfest.org.

Road closures:

On Saturday, Oct. 8, and Sunday, Oct. 9, streets in the Davis Square area will be closed for the annual HONK Festival and Parade.

On Saturday Elm St., from Dover St. to Cutter Ave., will be closed to vehicle traffic from noon to approximately 9 p.m. Cars will be detoured onto Dover St.

On Sunday, Davis Square and side streets including Chester St., Day St., and Herbert St. will be closed to vehicles from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate the annual HONK Festival Parade. The Herbert St. parking lot will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. Other side roads in this area may temporarily be closed as the parade passes through.
