It was a very exciting race day in Somerville on Sunday as men’s winner Andrea Sorgato became a three time champion of the race with a winning time of 14:48 and barely beating John Schilkowsky – who finished in 14:49 – by one second. Sorgato improved on his 2011 winning time of 14:49 and his 2010 winning time of 15:36.

Brian Harvey, the 2012 champion, came in third place in a time of 14:55. Harvey placed 32nd at the Olympic Marathon Trials in Los Angeles last month, finishing in a time of 2:23.17, and was recently named Runner of the Month by New England Runner/Marathon Sports.

The Women’s race was even more exciting with three time Olympian Jennifer Rhines of the B.A.A. running a very fast 16:15 and besting former Boston University standout and 2014 Patriot League Runner of the Year, Rosa Moriello, who ran 16:33 and 2015 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km 2nd place women’s finisher Holly Rees who ran 16:45.
