Worker killed in Assembly Row construction accident

One construction worker was killed and another seriously injured following an accident involving heavy machinery at the Partners Healthcare Alliance administrative office site at Assembly Row on Thursday.

According to reports, an external hoist cab dropped away from the building as it was being installed, causing the injuries to the workers, one of whom died while being treated at an area hospital.

A statement by Suffolk Construction affirmed that all safety protocol was being followed at the time of the incident.

The accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
