Something new this year: The city (Engineering Dept. and Joe Goode) graciously agreed to a request to install electric outlets. They will enable vendors to run the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) more efficiently. Since 2008 they have added equipment that allows them to serve the growing number of SNAP customers. Three years ago, they went electronic, setting up an intra-net system that better tracks SNAP purchases.

They also offer a SNAP-matching program that augments up to $10 the amount of a purchase by a SNAP customer.

Returning farmers in 2015 will include Kimball Fruit Farm (produce), Nicewicz Family Farm (produce), Bolton Flats Mentor Farm (Asian Hmong greens), Blue Heron Organic Farm (organic produce), Soluna Garden Farm (flowers and spices), Westport Rivers Winery and Vineyard (wines).

Returning vendors will include Valicenti Organico, Matt’s the Amazing Smokehouse with a new name, Boston Smoked Fish, BirchTree Bread Co., Danish Pastry House and C&C Lobster (and fish), Copicut Farms (chicken and eggs).

New farms and vendors will include Langwater Organic Farm, Fastachi (roasted nuts), Narragnasett Ceamery (cheese), Hilltown Grazers (beef and meats), Seasoned and Spiced (prepared Indian food) and Swiss Bakers (baked goods).
