Undersecretary Edward A. Palleschi of the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR) recently visited Razors Barbershop & Shave Co. at their original location in Somerville, MA to present owners Anthony and Joe Berriola with OCABR’s Licensee Recognition Certificate of Excellence. Undersecretary Palleschi enjoyed touring the recently renovated shop meeting the talented staff of barbers. Other special guests at the presentation were Somerville city councilors Beatriz Gómez-Mouakad and Kristen Strezo, as well as Somerville Chamber of Commerce President Stephen Mackey.

Anthony Berriola opened Razors Barbershop in 2004 with only one other employee – his brother Joe. It has since grown to eight staff barbers and earlier this year, expanded to a second location in Cambridge, MA which Joe co-owns and run. The shop has been voted Best of Boston, as well as Best of Somerville several times.

Aside from serving his regular customers inside Razors Barbershop, Anthony also represents Proraso, Italy’s largest shaving product company, at events and tradeshows as their brand ambassador. He is also the personal barber for touring musicians, athletes, and corporations seeking luxury barber services.

As much as they love giving haircuts, Razors Barbershop takes special pride in their award-winning traditional shave. They even have tutorials on their blog about how to shave better at home. They are also committed to being a pillar of the community. Prior to the pandemic, they hosted live musical acts, through their Fresh Cuts Concert Series.

The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR) oversees the Division of Occupational Licensure, Division of Banks, Division of Insurance, Department of Telecommunications and Cable, and Division of Standards. OCABR works to ensure a fair playing field for the Massachusetts businesses its agencies regulate and empower consumers through advocacy and education.
