On December 2, the Kiwanis Club of Somerville inducted two new members. Jill Bowdring, an Account Executive for Superior Promotions and Paula Vancini, the Principal at Vancini Accounting joined the ranks of local business leaders and active retired members to become Somerville Kiwanis members. Jill’s sponsor was her father, James Bowdring, who has been a member for 27 years. Paula’s sponsor was former Mayor Eugene C. Brune. The Somerville club was founded in 1925 and is part of Kiwanis International.

The Kiwanis’ motto is “Serving the Children of the World.” With that motto in mind, Somerville Kiwanis members will be hosting the United States Marine Corps next week where members will be joined by our friends from the Somerville Lions Club and Somerville Rotary Club and hundreds of toys, donated by members of the three clubs will be given to the USMC Toys For Tots program. Following that program, the club will be donating and delivering toys to 150 of the most needy children in Somerville and Cambridge. Last week, Kiwanis members served 134 Thanksgiving lunches to Somerville Senior residents. “I am so proud of our club and grateful for our two new members”, said President Mernaysa Rivera-Bujosa.
