Clumsy burglar also very forgetful

Somerville and Tufts police officers responded to report of a burglary at 139 College Ave. in the early morning hours of last Sunday, June 28.

Upon arrival, officers detained a man, Jesse Winfrey, of Roxbury, on the front porch of the residence.

The victim reportedly told police that he was awakened by a crashing sound in his bedroom, at which time he spotted Winfrey sitting on his desk.

According to reports, Winfrey had apparently knocked over the victim’s computer monitor, which was sitting on the desk as he entered the bedroom from a window.

After being awakened, the victim reportedly confronted the intruder and called the police.

Winfrey was placed under arrest and charged with unarmed burglary.

When questioned about the incident Winfrey reportedly told police that he had no recollection of entering the house.
