Shouldn’t this public hearing have taken place BEFORE the changes were made?

  2. Old Taxpayer says:

I sort of agree with you but once they did it now we know how much it does not work. But it is the as usual when the city helps us it goes bad fast.

  3. Living here since 1975, I have never seen anything like the mess you have created on Broadway. I apologize to the neighborhoods I now drive thru just to avoid sitting in traffic on Broadway, ANYTIME, day or night. I believe regular users of the “new and improved” one lane fiasco will tell you, by the time they drive from Cedar Street to McGrath Highway, maybe one bus and a few bikes will have gone by them in their newly formed paradise. It is a disgrace what has been done to my city. I believe the only two lane street left in Somerville is Mystic Avenue, which is controlled by DCR.

At least the city is finally being transparent about their meetings, where taxpayers can give oral or written testimony. Might as well hold it after the fact since it’s always a done deal anyway. The opinion of the taxpayers/voters, when they are allowed to give it in more than a 30 second spiel at a public ‘hearing’, is totally disregarded at every turn.

Hey, remember when those crazy kids blocked 93 as a protest? And Mayor Curtatone thought they should be praised and not prosecuted? Maybe we should think about having a bus lane protest.

  6. A Moore says:

block the lane , Many have suggested that and more. You just might get away with it for the buses as there are not that many to contend with. But not on the unused bike lanes.
