Obituary: Lorraine R. Burlamachi

Lorraine Ruth Burlamachi, age 92, and lifelong resident of Somerville passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Sancta Maria Nursing Facility in Cambridge. She was affectionately known as “Nannie” to all.

Born in Somerville on June 20, 1926 the daughter of the late Peter D. and Mary C. (Razzaboni) Burlamachi. She was raised and educated in Somerville graduating from Somerville High School.

Lorraine purchased a summer cottage in Nutting Lake in Billerica in the late 1950’s and enjoyed many happy and fun filled days with family and close friends.

Upon the passing of her father in 1970 she devoted the next 20 years to taking care of her mom, her love and care never went unnoticed. Family was the center of her life, she cherished her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She especially adored her nephew Stephen Burlamachi, great-grandnephew Brad and great-niece Bailey Burlamachi who brought joy to her world on a daily basis, they in turn cared for during her later years.

Lorraine worked for many years as a Dietary Aide for Somerville Hospital before retiring. She resided at the Burton F. Faulkner Apartments in Somerville for over 20 years where she made many friends.

Her family will miss her smile, generosity and most of all her caring presence. She was well loved by all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Phillips, Barbara Hutchinson and brothers Leonard Burlamachi and Donald Burlamachi, her nephews Charles Phillips, Richard Milligan and Leonard Burlamachi and niece Robin Milligan

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Lorraine on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap St., Concord. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
