Re: The Nor’easter of March 22, 2018.

At last, it has become obvious to the hovering and insistent TV crews and newspapers each and every day before a snowstorm, that they have become havoc on our screens and in our reading.

These alarmists are doing much serious harm, not only financially, but to our education systems, now a joke, when every few days, schools are closed, only because of the idiots stepping into the snow all day, insisting that we stay home, letting us know we shouldn’t drive in this March 22 storm – which happens to be a “No Storm.”

It’s obvious they enjoy their game during these snowstorms; at any time of the day we are forced to watch these buffoons, standing at the seashore, wallowing in the white stuff, and the pounding waves, and who also interrupt every television show that they can, only to show is more snow!

But this time and there have been many more times in the past, and most will recall that there was just a bit of snow, not at all a Nor’Easter!! When will they stop treating the public like stupid children?

And why this tremendous waste of time and money? America has become dumber and dumber.

Let’s, please, turn it around. Call these stations, letting them know that we do still think, and we are familiar with New England weather patterns in the wintertime. Further, we don’t need any more of this slush.

Sincerely,

Paul Bradford

The media is only part of the problem. Everyone now expects to hear the no-school announcements the night before school. And the city controls the no-school announcements. If there is a snow emergency called, there will be no school, because the city commandeers the school lots. The day before the March 22nd ‘storm’, the schools had a scheduled half day. Teachers were supposed to be in professional development until 2:30, but they were sent home at 1:00 because the city had called a snow emergency beginning 8 hours before the snow was even predicted to fall (a money grab if I ever saw one). The whole snow emergency is a joke. Somerville calls a snow ’emergency’ if 4 or more inches are predicted. 4 inches! It’s all about the $$$.

Plus we are talking predictions, weather forecasting, nothing set in stone here. The emergencies are called way too early as in the starting time. To declare it at 8pm for the next morning ir ridiculous. If we have an inch of snow or 2 on thee ground it leaves people with parking and time to go to work and be out of the way. A little common sense would go a long way. We got by watching the tv for school cancellations while the snow was coming down and survived. It is New England. News people and city pols have to wake up;. .
