I find it interesting that the city has this event, along with a Christmas tree lighting and pats themselves on the back, that they are being inclusive to different religions. A menorah is a very holy, religious symbol. I think it’s wonderful that the city hosts this event, and includes remarks by a rabbi. But then it comes to the Christians……A “Christmas” tree has nothing to do with religion. It was a pagan tradition that Christians adopted, but not as their religious symbol. So they light this tree, bring in Santa, who also has nothing to do with any religion that I’m aware of. No remarks from a priest or Reverend. If the city wishes to be inclusive, the Menorah must sit side by side with a creche, with remarks made by a Christian minister. Keep the tree, though, it does look pretty!
