Obituary: Mark J. Haley, Sr

Mark J. Haley, Sr., a lifelong Somerville resident, died tragically and unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 23rd. He was 49. Proudly born and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Clovis and Dolores (Vartabedian) Haley. A graduate of Somerville High School, Mark was employed for many years in the construction trades and was a member of Local 1421. He was a demolition foreman, specializing in large scale demolition projects and traveled throughout New England and beyond, no doubt making friends along the way. Mark will be remembered as a hard working guy who definitely knew how to have a good time and will be missed by many.

Mark was the devoted father of Mark Haley, Jr., Matthew Haley, Michael Haley, Melinda Haley and Mitchell Haley, all of Saugus. He was the dear brother of Stephen Haley of Warren, Cheryl Bertocci and her husband Roy of Yarmouth, Joyce Brogna and her husband Daniel of Somerville, William Haley of Cape Cod, the late Linda McMasters and his late twin sister Michele Haley.

The Funeral Procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Ann Church on Medford Street in Somerville at 11 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, November 30, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory can be made to Somerville Overcoming Addiction, PO Box 45068, Somerville, MA 02145.
