Obituary: Kathy Anne Beckwith

Kathy Anne Beckwith, age 62, of Wakefield died Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Born in Cambridge on January 17, 1954 she was the daughter of Marion A. (Anningson) Simpson of Londonderry, NH and the late George A. Simpson. Kathy was raised in Somerville and Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1971. She later received her Associates Degree from Bunker Hill Community College in 1993. Kathy had worked as a Secretary for the Boston Bruins, where she worked for many years before going to work as a Registered Nurse for Cab Health and Recovery. She was a member of the Old South Church in Reading.

 Kathy had many hobbies, most notably: reading and travel, she especially loved York Beach. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. In addition to her mother, Kathy is survived by her beloved husband John H. “Jack” Beckwith, her loving sons, Brian K. Beckwith and his wife Amy Cole Beckwith of Saugus and Timothy J. Beckwith and his wife Amy Joy Beckwith of No. Reading, her adoring grandchildren, Andrew, Cameron, and Ruby. She is also survived by her sister Deborah Merowski of Saugus and brother Larry Simpson of Londonderry, NH; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her Funeral service will be held in the Old South United Methodist Church, 6 Salem St, Reading on Tuesday at 10am. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to MGH Lung Transplant Program, 55 Fruit Street, WHT 517, Boston MA 02114, Attn: Lynn Wilcott.
