Parking change on Summer Street (Spring St. to Prescott St.)

On October 24, 2016, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

somervillelogoAs a result of multiple community meetings over Spring and Summer 2016, and a subsequent vote by the City of Somerville’s Traffic Commission, the city will switch the location of parking spots on Summer St., between Spring St. and Prescott St., from the odd side to the even side of the street, beginning the week of October 24.

The parking shift will help to accommodate safer bike lane locations and bicycle travel along Summer St. Earlier this fall, city contractors resurfaced this portion of Summer St. as part of its ongoing preventative maintenance program, creating safer roadways for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Beginning on Wednesday, October 26, parking signage will be switched from the odd to the even side of the street. A new bike lane is expected to be painted beginning the week of October 31.
