M.O.M.’s Run 2016 took place on Mother’s Day, this past Sunday. The traditional Kids 0.1 Mile took off at 9:30 a.m., with the Walkers 5K following at 9:45 a.m., and the Runners 5K heading out at 10:00 a.m.

In the past 14 years, M.O.M.’s Run has raised over $130,000 benefiting the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  They owe this success to the thousands of runners, countless volunteers, and generous sponsors who have partaken over the years.

moms_5_11_16_22016 is their biggest year yet. Whether it is to celebrate moms, promote health, to commemorate cancer survivors or to honor those who have been lost,  a 5K, delicious food and a fantastic raffle.

Mary (Pilotte) O’Brien, who was a longtime Somerville resident, lost her brief battle to cancer on November 19, 2002. Mary was involved in many local organizations throughout her life, and dedicated much of her time to helping others. All are invited to join in at this community event to honor the amazing mothers and women, and countless others that have been affected by cancer in each of our lives.
