M.O.M.’s Run 2016 takes place on Mother’s Day, this Sunday, May 8, with the Kids 0.1 Mile at 9:30 a.m.; Walkers 5K at 9:45 a.m.; and the Runners 5K at 10:00 a.m.

In the past 14 years, M.O.M.’s Run has raised over $130,000 benefiting the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  They owe this success to the thousands of runners, countless volunteers, and generous sponsors who have partaken over the years.

They are gearing up for 2016 to be their biggest year yet. Whether it is to celebrate moms, promote health, to commemorate cancer survivors or to honor those who have been lost, it is hoped that you will join in on Mother’s Day for a 5K, delicious food and a fantastic raffle.

Mary (Pilotte) O’Brien, who was a longtime Somerville resident, lost her brief battle to cancer on November 19, 2002. Mary was involved in many local organizations throughout her life, and dedicated much of her time to helping others. All are invited to join in at this community event to honor the amazing mothers and women, and countless others that have been affected by cancer in each of our lives.

A full 100% of the funds raised by M.O.M.’s Run benefits the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, widely recognized as one of the largest and most successful programs of its kind.
