According to travel website Lonely Planet, the City of Somerville has come in at sixth place in its list of the best U.S. places to visit in 2016.

The cities were chosen by the website’s U.S.-based editors and authors.

The chosen locations are ranked as follows:

1. Philadelphia, Penn.

2. Natchez, Miss.

3. Yellowstone National Park

4. Birmingham, Ala.

5. Alaska

6. Somerville, Massachusetts

7. Northwest Arkansas

8. San Antonio

9. Southern New Mexico

10. Milwaukee, Wisconsin

We certainly agree with Lonely Planet’s assessment of our fair city as being worthy of inclusion in their list, although we might take exception with its exact placement. It goes without saying that it is and always shall be #1 among our residents.
