The Kiwanis Club of Somerville held its annual Thanksgiving Dinner For Seniors on Tuesday November 17 at the Highlander Café on the campus of Somerville High School at Highland Ave., in Somerville.

The Highlander Café is part of the Culinary Arts program at Somerville High School. The Turkey dinner was expertly prepared by the students under the supervision of the teaching staff of the Culinary Arts Program.

Dinner was served to 102 seniors who were invited though the Somerville Council on Aging. The dinner was a presentation of a mixed salad, turkey, stuffing, vegetable, mashed potatoes and gravy with a dessert of fresh apple pie with apple crisp topping and whipped cream.

The dinner was served by members of the Somerville Kiwanis Club. Dinner was followed by a songfest with the Kiwanis Karaoke Singers. Five door prizes were also handed out to lucky winners who received $20 and $50 bills.

The Somerville Kiwanis celebrated its 90th anniversary this year. Somerville Kiwanis has had a long and distinguished record in the history of Somerville. The foundation of Kiwanians is built upon giving humanely and spiritually, encouraging the Golden Rule, promoting higher social and business standards, developing more serviceable citizenship through example, providing lasting friendships to build better communities and to cooperate in creating high idealism to increase righteousness, justice and patriotism.
