A police patrolman reportedly spotted a vehicle which had signaled to turn left from Broadway onto Willow Ave. make the turn after the light had turned red last Thursday afternoon.

The officer pulled the driver over on Willow Ave. and asked him for his license and vehicle registration.

The driver, identified as Thomas Stoner, of Boston, produced his license and a rental agreement for the car.

The officer reported that he detected the odor of alcohol in the car and that Stoner’s eyes appeared to be glassy. He further said he observed a tumbler with a “Bacardi” logo on it in the vehicle’s cup holder.

When asked if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages, Stoner reportedly told them, “No.” When asked where he was coming from he said, “The neighborhood.”

Police said that while he was being questioned he continuously made irrelevant statements such as “I’m an American!” “I’m a patriot,” and made reference to his beard saying he “wasn’t a Jihadist.”

Stoner was asked out of the car in order to perform some field sobriety tests. At one point, when asked to stand on one leg, he reportedly complained, “Dude you see this wind! It’s going to knock me over!”

Stoner was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.
