US2Union Square Station Associates (US2), the City of Somerville’s master developer partner for Union Square’s revitalization, today announced that it is seeking proposals from Somerville-based artists to design and install wall art inside the new US2 headquarters and co-working space which will soon open at 31 Union Square, the former home of Elegant Furniture.

“We want the new coworking space to reflect the vibrancy, diversity and potential that is Union Square,” said Greg Karczewski, president of US2. “Who better than someone steeped in Union Square’s arts culture to help bring that sense of community inside the walls of Union Square’s newest work space.”

In its Call for Submission, US2 says, “submissions may include murals, 2D wall art, and interactive features or exhibits.” The budget for the project is $2,000, offering a nice potential payday to one of Somerville’s many creative professionals.

Applications can be found at the US2 website at http://www.us2unionsquare.info/blog/2015/5/26/call-for-submissions and must be received no later than June 15 at 5:00pm. Applicants are instructed to email all information to Becca@US2UnionSquare.com.

US2 previously announced their new 2,500 square foot ground floor space will be staffed by a full-time US2 representative who will be available to field questions and provide general information about the Union Square revitalization. The space will serve as a headquarters, meeting space and a central hub for the recruitment of commercial tenants to fill space in the new development area and in the entire square.
