The creative heart and soul of the city opened its doors to the public this past weekend as the artists participating in Somerville Open Studios welcomed those interested into their workspaces.

More than 100 local painters, sculptors, photographers and others joined in as the city’s arts community showed off their finest works on their own home turf, as visitors were allowed access into their studios for viewing, discussion and opportunities to support these artists by purchasing their creations.
Founded in 1999, the annual event has become a highly anticipated tradition in the city among artists and patrons of the arts alike. The participating studios are given an opportunity to highlight their works, while those in attendance enjoy the rare experience of observing the process of artistic expression up close and personal.
