powderhouse_viewNot many of us can boast that we are perfectly fit and not in need of some serious physical training. Those who are that fit can number themselves among the most fortunate. With fitness comes a better quality of life, a generally healthy state of being, and the satisfaction of knowing that one is living their lives to the fullest. At least as far as our bodies are concerned.

The Shape Up Somerville program, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge, serves as a great motivator for those who may need a little boost in getting their bodies tuned and trimmed.

There is a wide array of programs and activities available for everyone, of all ages and fitness levels. And once you get started, it’s pretty hard to let go of it.

It’s far too easy these days to fall into couch or desk potato mode, letting our muscles dissipate, respiration diminish, and generally become less alive than we ought to be.

Modern medicine backs up the fact that those who remain active live longer, healthier, and more vital lives. Now, who doesn’t want that?

All it takes is just the will to get it started. It only gets easier from that point onward.

So let’s shape up, Somerville. We all want to be as proud of ourselves and each other as we can possibly be.

Our bodies are just as much a part of who we are as our hearts and minds are. Let’s live like we know it.
