The Yawkey League Champion Alibrandis Baseball Club was honored by the BoSox Club last week.

For the fourth consecutive season and the fourteenth in seventeen seasons the Somerville Highlander/Alibrandis Baseball Club were honored by the BoSox Club at a luncheon Friday, September 20 at the Needham Marriott.

The BoSox Club is the oldest official fan club in Major League Baseball and promotes the game at all levels while assisting the Boston Red Sox in community and charitable endeavors. The 2013 Alibrandis Baseball Club were honored for their record breaking season in which they went 40-4 and won the Yawkey Baseball League Championship after defeating Revere Rockies 3-0 in the final game at Trum Field on Sept 3.

“The BoSox Club support of amateur baseball is tremendous and the way they honor all the local champions makes this luncheon a very special event” said Team President David Treska.  It was a historic season for the Alibrandis Baseball Club as they set Yawkey Baseball League records for regular season wins (30) and overall wins in a regular post season(40).

“We are honored to recognized again by the BoSox Club,” said Alibrandis coach Bernie Driscoll. “The 2013 season was very special to us. We had a great bunch of baseball guys on the team and they made the sacrifices to go out each and every game supporting each other to reach our goal of another league title.”
