The 12th Annual Pig Pickin’ & Fund Raiser for The Somerville Homeless Coalition (SHC) will take place Redbones, 55 Chester Street, Davis Square on Monday, August 5, 6 – 9 p.m.. Come for the Q.  Come for the cause.

Traditional Southern Pig Pickin’s combine food and function for a finger lickin’ good time and Redbones event does it right. Whole hogs will be slow smoked on site and served up with all the fixin’s, sides and drinks. When the evening is over, proceeds go to the SHC.

The a la carte menu includes pulled pork, loins and butts plus slaw, corn on the cob, collard greens, veggie kabobs, corn bread, mac ‘n’ cheese, hot dogs and watermelon with lemonade, soda, Iced tea and craft beer to drink.

Music is part of every Pig Pickin’ and Redbones has rounded up three great local bands to play at the party: The Springhill Rounders, Bluegrass: The Band, & The Second Line Social Aid & Pleasure Society Brass Band – the local band with the New Orleans style.
