Joseph Capuano of High Street in Ward Seven pulled papers to run for the Alderman Ward 7 seat, presently held by Bob Trane.   It’s been widely rumored and expected that he would pull papers to seek the Alderman’s seat, and it is also expected that the current Alderman Bob Trane will ride out the remainder of his term this year, leaving this and open seat.

Joseph Capuano is the youngest son of Congressman Mike Capuano and is expected to mount a big campaign up in Ward 7, he will face Katjana Ballantyne of Russell Road who lost to Bob two years ago but not by much.   The Ward Seven Alderman race should prove to be very interesting this year, together with some of the other seats being contested in most of the Wards.    This marks the first time in recent memory that the city will see so many races all over that just might change the makeup of the Board of Alderman and School Board.

    Who cares?

Well, Mike, let’s see. There is now a contested race for a seat that hasn’t been open in many years. One candidate happens to be the scion of the most famous political family in the city’s history. There happen to be several open alderman and school committee races. Yeah, I’d say I care and this is news.
