The St. Clement Lady Anchors collected two more wins last week defeating non-league opponent Fellowship Christian Academy and league rival St Joseph Academy.  Fellowship Christian Academy fell to the Anchors on Feb. 4 as the Lady Anchors jumped out to an early lead led by Freshman Katie Monestime’s (Somerville) 16 points. Senior Captain Allison Caloggero (Medford) also came up big scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The final score of 44 to 19, got the anchors their 8th win on the season.  The team faced off against St. Joseph Academy on February 13 in a must win situation. The Lady Anchors were led by senior captains Allison Caloggero and Kristina Ofoedu (Methuen), the Anchors came out with defensive intensity. A hard fought battle, the game was close all the way to the final minutes, when Amanda Andre (Somerville) came off the bench with the score tied to draw an offensive foul and have a put back on the other end to give the Anchors the room they needed to pull out the victory. Leading scorers in this contest were Katie Monestime with 24 points and Sophomore Captain Jessica Popken(Medford), with 13.

The Anchors look for one more win to qualify them for the MIAA state tournament against Pope John on Tuesday, Fellowship Christian Academy on Wednesday and finally against Mount Alvernia on Friday for senior night.
