Valentino family and friends gathered at Saturday’s Square Dedication for Columbus Valentino who was killed in Germany in action in 1942 during WWII.

Columbus lived on Dell Street in Somerville with his eight siblings. Columbus was an MP in the United States Army. Somerville Department Police dispatcher Ken Ward, a nephew, still has his Uncle Columbus’ Army issued whistle from his uniform as a keepsake. Columbus Valentino’s square dedication is at the intersection of Dell and Tufts Streets in Somerville.
