Taxi driver beaten, robbed

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, a 31 year old Boston Taxi driver was robbed by three suspects and beaten on Evergreen Avenue.  The suspects fled when police were called, but two were quickly apprehended.

The taxi driver’s wallet was found on one of the two suspects, Hamza Warsame,  age 18 who gave a Revere address.  A second suspect, , Zachary Hultgren, age 19, of Somerville, had an unrelated arrest warrant.  The third suspect was not found and is still being sought.

The cab driver was transported to Mass. General Hospital where he was treated and later released. Warsame was also transported to Cambridge Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

Both suspects will be charged with Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, (a shod foot used to kick the driver) and other charges.  Both suspects will be  arraigned in Somerville District Court  Monday morning.
