Culinary Cruisers, a business based in Somerville, will debut their Ocean Ave. P ops at the Greenway Mobile Food Fest.

“We really couldn’t think of a better place to debut our popsicles than on the Greenway,” said Josh Danoff of Culinary Cruisers.

The reason why Culinary Cruisers chose to make their debut at the fest this year was because, “This was the first opportunity we had. There’s going to be a whole lot of really good food, from popsicles to hot dogs,” Danoff said.

On April 28, Culinary Cruiser’s participated in the Somerville Farmer’s Market.

The business utilizes cargo bikes, which may be found at parks and farmers markets, and they enable individuals to experience gourmet food and drink in a unique and environmentally safe fashion, in “pedal-powered” food carts.

Culinary Cruisers is comprised of siblings Josh and Leah Danoff, and Jennifer Johnsrud, a friend of the Danoff’s.

They are all extremely passionate about food and the current mobile food revolution intrigues them.

The Danoff’s parents owned a natural health food store, so that ignited the siblings’ interest in that area.

Ocean Ave. Pops were inspired by “paletas,” which are Mexican popsicles. Small batches use local and seasonal produce, whenever available. The pops, which cost $3 apiece do not use high-fructose corn syrup, dye or preservatives.  Among the popsicle flavors from which you may choose are Creamy Coconut, Roasted Banana, and Blackberry Lemonade Basil.
Kombucha is an energizing “live” drink, which contains a wide array of probiotics, such as acidophilus, as well as digestive enzymes, such as antioxidants.

To top it off, Culinary Cruisers serves Spindrift, which is based in Charlestown. The drink is the first soda made with freshly squeezed ingredients, and it contains no syrup, juice concentrate, additives or preservatives.

Even more goodies will be up for grabs at the fest because over 20 other mobile food vendors will attend.  Performances by local bands and children’s activities will provide additional enjoyment.

“It [the May 5 event] will just be a nice day to go out with your friends or your family or your kids and enjoy some food,” said Danoff.
