Our featured poet this week is Anne Ardery.  Anne lives in Davis Square and is taking time off from Harvard where she is an English major.

-VICTORIA-

I am one pretty rag doll –

chewed up, dirty, old play thing.

I’m tearing at the seams.

No, don’t look away from me.

Keep both eyes fixed on every single stitch.

Meet my weepy drooping eyes.

These black pin pricks hold no disguise.

No pretense in this form of mine.

To one side, I lean cockeyed.

My mangled rope-spindled spine

props up shoulders of uneven lines,

bearing each unequal weight –

I am the whole of my mistakes.

Look at me, dammit!

Take every shadow in.

I’m your demons. I’m your skin.
